I guess we fell apart in the usual way, and the story's got dust on every page. But sometimes I wonder how you think about it now, and I see you face in every crowd.
I tend to write a lot of songs about love and relationships. That tends to be the main topic covered. I think it’s because we need music the most when we’re feeling things really intensely, and I think the most intense times in your life are when you’re either falling in love, or losing it. Don’t you think? I think I fall into the category of the hopeless romantics, and I think that you do too because you’re here. See, the tricky thing about us is, the tricky thing about the hopeless romantics is that when we fall in love with someone, when we say hello, and it’s magical, we never imagine that that hello could someday turn into a goodbye, and when we have a first kiss with someone, and it’s magical, we never, ever imagine that someday that could turn into a last kiss.
song to picture → the moment i knew
And what do you do when the one
Who means the most to you
Is the one who didn’t show?
This song really hits me today, because it’s my birthday and my parents never called me or said “Happy Birthday”. I guess that’s what happens when your own mother unfriends you on Facebook: they don’t know when you were born.
“And they’re all standing around me singing
”Happy birthday to you”,
But there was one thing missing,
And that was the moment I knew.”
